Pseudo-scalar vs. pseudo-vector coupling in eta-meson photoproduction from proton

The eta-meson phtoproduction has been studied extensively both in theory and in experiments, since this process has a strong coupling to the S11 resonance thus it possesses a particular importance for understanding excited structure of nucleons. In this work we report a study on eta-meson photoproduction from proton by using the Effective Lagrangian Approach (ELA). While the resonance S11(1535) is the dominant channel, contributions from Born term and t-channels are also included. Emphasis is put on the difference between the contributions from pseudo-scalar (PS) and pseudo-vector (PV) eta-N coupling. The gamma-energy dependence and angular distribution of the cross section are analyzed, in the hope to extract information on characteristics of PS and PV couplings which could facilitate determining the relative strength of these two couplings. The information so-obtained is going to be used as an input to the study of eta-meson photoproduction from nuclei.
